Four Bears Tapped for Pacific All-Region Squad

May 23, 2004

BERKELEY, Calif. - Junior 3B Vicky Galindo and junior CF Kaleo Eldredge were voted onto the first team Pacific All-Region softball team, it was announced today.

Junior SS Chelsea Spencer and sophomore P Kristina Thorson received second team accolades to round out Cal's regional honors on the eve of the Bears' sixth appearance in the Women's College World Series, to be played in Oklahoma City May 27-31 at ASA Hall of Fame Stadium.

'I'm very happy that our team is receiving the recognition that I feel they rightfully deserve for their outstanding season,' said California head coach Diane Ninemire. 'They've had outstanding seasons and they're outstanding players and I'm happy for them that their hard work has paid off and that people in our region and conference are recognizing the kind of quality players that are on our team.'

The selection was Galindo's and Eldredge's second showing on the All-Region team in as many years. Galindo and Eldredge were both second team selections in 2003. This was the first election for Spencer and Thorson.

California had five all-region players named last year and three during the Bears' national title season in 2002.
