Women's Basketball Italy Tour: Day 7: Cougars Notch Second Win of Italy Tour

UDINE, Italy - Bianca McCall led a quartet of Washington State players who scored in double figures with 14 points as the Cougars improved their Italy tour record to 2-1 with a 71-68 win over Crupp Udine, Monday.
Once again, WSU used a strong fourth quarter to capture the win. Down by two entering the final quarter, the Cougars outscored Udine 17-12 to post the three-point win. WSU has outscored its opposition 61-40 in the fourth period in three games of the Italy tour.
Charmaine Jones (11 points), Adriane Ferguson (10 points) and Stephanie Singer (10 points) completed the WSU double-digit scoring quartet. Emma Joneby added nine points and Jessica Perry had eight for the balanced Cougar scoring attack.
The Cougars found themselves down 68-66 with less than a minute and a half remaining in the game. But three free throws, with the last two coming courtesy of Jones, gave WSU a 69-68 lead with 30 seconds remaining.
After a missed 3-point attempt by Crupp Udine, Jessica Perry was sent to the line and gave the Cougars a 71-68 lead with a pair of free throws.
Udine had a chance to tie but Jones forced a jump ball on an Udine 3-point attempt as time expired.
WSU was 7-of-14 from the charity stripe in the first half but rallied to hit 16-of-20 attempts in the second half.
The Cougars wrap-up the competition portion of their Italy tour with a game against Pool Comense, Wednesday, May 26.
Off the court, the team began its Monday with a bus ride from Venice to Udine, a small town in the northeast portion of Italy. After arriving at around noon, the Cougars had the afternoon off to enjoy the town.
The team departs Udine for the city of Como Tuesday morning.
