12 Cal Baseball Players Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Team

WALNUT CREEK, CA - The University of California baseball program had 12 players selected to the 2004 Pac-10 All-Academic Team, it was announced today by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen. Cal's 12 all-academic recipients represent the most all-academic selections of any school in the conference this season.
The Golden Bears' first team Pac-10 All-Academic selection was senior right-hander Blake Read (3.47 GPA in English). Cal had three more student-athletes earn second team Pac-10 All-Academic honors - junior infielder Matt Einspahr (3.35 GPA in sociology), junior right-hander Jesse Ingram (3.31 in political science) and senior shortstop Jeff Dragicevich (3.28 GPA in business administration).
Eight more Bears were among the Pac-10 honorable mention All-Academic list - senior right-hander Matt Brown, sophomore infielder Allen Craig, sophomore right-hander Adam Gold, senior outfielder Brian Horwitz, sophomore outfielder Robert Nesbitt, junior right-hander Mike Padgett, sophomore right-hander Alex Trafton and senior outfielder David Weiner.
Cal (24-29, 8-13) will conclude the 2004 season this weekend with a three-game Pac-10 series at Washington State, May 28-30 at Bailey-Brayton Field in Pullman, Wash.
