Two Huskies Named To Pac-10 All-Academic Softball Teams

SEATTLE- Washington softball pitcher Ashley Boek and outfielder Courtney Jeffries were named to the Pac-10 All-Academic teams, it was announced today by Commissioner Tom Hanson. The awards mark the 53rd and 54th Pac-10 academic awards for Washington since 1993.
Boek, a junior psychology major with a 3.22 GPA, has been the anchor of the Husky pitching staff, leading Washington to its seventh trip to the College World Series in nine years. Boek leads the team with a 29-11 record, 1.63 earned run average and 11 shutouts. Her 276 strikeouts ranks second all-time on the UW single-season charts and her 610 career strikeouts rank third. Boek set single-season records this year with 40 starts, 32 complete games and ranks second with 266.1 innings.
Jeffries, a senior Law, Society and Justice major with a 3.01 GPA, has started 53 games in the outfield this season. She has scored four game-winning runs and has had two game-winning hits. Her best performance of the season came again Oregon State on April 17 when she went 3-for-4 from the plate with a home run and two RBIs.
Washington opens the College World Series Thursday with a 4 p.m. (PST) game vs. Oklahoma.
