Cal Places Two On Pac-10 All-Academic Team

BERKELEY, Calif. - Cal junior P Kelly Anderson and junior 2B Jessica Pamanian were each named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Academic team, it was announced Wednesday.

A legal studies major with a 3.33 GPA, Anderson was selected for first-team honors by the Conference. It was her second Pac-10 All-Academic award in as many years, having been a second-team honoree in 2002. Anderson returns to the 2004 Women's College World Series with a 1.43 ERA, having led the Golden Bears to their second-straight championship game last season with a sensational breakout performance, throwing 48 of 52 possible innings while posting a 0.88 ERA in championship play.

Pamanian, a second-team selection, also makes her second Pac-10 All-Academic team appearance in as many years, having received honorable mention recognition last year. A psychology major with a 3.37 GPA, Pamanian has been one of the best defensive second basemen in the game this season and recorded a team second-best 10 doubles through 50 hits.

There were no honorable mention awards issued this year by the Conference.

The Bears will face Florida State in the final game of the Women's College Wold Series' opening day Thursday at 8:30 p.m. CT (6:30 p.m. PT) on ESPN2.
