BOULDER - University of Colorado senior golfer Kane Webber has been named to the PING All-Central Region Golf Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America has announced.

Webber, who graduated with a degree in communication on May 7, had one of the most outstanding seasons in Colorado golf history, as he led the Buffs to a No. 28 rank in the nation at one point.  He broke 11 records and tied two others during his senior season, including breaking one of the oldest on the books in any CU sport when his 71.46 stroke average for the year topped the 72.04 mark established by Hale Irwin in 1965-66.

Webber was one of 15 golfers named to the Central team, one of nine regions nationwide that were afforded the honor; thus 135 players were recognized.

The All-America teams are due out in the coming days, and it is the hope of CU head coach Mark Simpson that Webber will earn at least third-team honors, which would make him the first Buff to earn any kind of All-America mention since Bobby Kalinowski earned second-team honors in 1994.
