Kostina, Madison Earn First Team Pac-10 All-Academic Honors

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Washington State's Maria Kostina and Jordan Madison earned Pacific-10 Conference Women's and Men's Golf All-Academic First Team selections, respectively, as announced by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen, May 28.

In addition, Jay-Lee Longbottom garnered a second team selection while Kim Welch and Stephanie Parsley collected honorable mention nods to the women's team.

Both Kostina and Madison make their initial appearance on the conference academic teams. Incoming senior Kostina carries a 3.94 GPA in psychology while Madison, who will be a redshirt sophomore next year, has a 3.95 GPA. Madison has yet to declare a major.

Longbottom was named to the team for the second consecutive year. The incoming senior, who has a 3.72 GPA in psychology, earned a first team selection last year.

Incoming senior Welch, who garnered All-American status for the second consecutive year, added to her resume with her second consecutive honorable mention selection while incoming junior Parsley makes her first appearance on the team.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average and either be a starter or significant contributor.
