Bhardwaj 10th After All-Around Preliminaries At USA Gymnastics Championships

Nashville, TN - Former UCLA star Mohini Bhardwaj (1998-2001) stands in 10th place in the all-around after the first day of competition at the USA Gymnastics Championships. Bhardwaj totaled a 37.1 in the preliminary all-around/event finals session and also finished in a tie for second place on vault with a 9.525.

Bhardwaj, who is coached by UCLA assistant coach Chris Waller, started the competition strong with a 9.3 on floor exercise in rotation one. She moved to vault in rotation two and received her score of 9.525 on a double-twisting Yurchenko layout. On uneven bars, she scored an 8.9, and she closed the meet with a 9.375 on balance beam, good for 10th place.

Thursday's all-around preliminary score will be combined with Saturday's all-around final score to determine the all-around champions. Additionally, the top 14 all-around athletes will be named to the Senior National Team, and the top 12 invited to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

NBC will be televising the Championships. The prelims will air Saturday, June 5 at 10 am PT. Finals will air Sunday, June 6 at 11 am PT.
