Two More Football Games Picked for TV
June 3, 2004
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - University of Arizona football games this fall against Wisconsin on Sept. 18 and at Southern California on Nov. 13 have been selected for national cablecast by Fox Sports Net, the Pacific-10 Conference announced.
The network and Pac-10 partner Turner Sports announced their early selections today, under the Pac-10 contract.
That gives Arizona four known network games this year -- those two plus a Sept. 25 game in Tucson against Washington State and the regular-season finale Friday, Nov. 26, in Tucson against Arizona State.
The WSU game was moved to 12:30 p.m. (MST/PDT) for an ABC-Sports regional telecast, and the ASU contest will kickoff at 12 noon (MST) for a Fox Sports Net national cablecast.
The UA's game against the Wisconsin Badgers will move from a previously scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff to a 1 p.m. (MST/PDT) start time for the FSN broadcast.
The game at USC, typically an afternoon start, has been changed to a 7:15 p.m. (PST) kickoff, 8:15 p.m. in Arizona.
Several other Wildcat games remain in the mix for other television choices by Pac-10 partners ABC, Fox Sports Net and Turner Sports. Those include October games at UCLA and at Oregon, against California and against Oregon State in Tucson; and a November 6 game at Washington.
Additionally, UA television partner Fox Sports Net Arizona, will show at least one football game under a recently signed contract to continue its affilation as the Wildcat TV carrier.
New UA coach Mike Stoops has generated considerable national attention for the Wildcat program since his hiring last December, and the early pick by ABC is Arizona's first since the 2000 season.
