Chrissie Zartman Represents the U.S. at the FISU World University Beach Volleyball Championship

UCLA senior libero Chrissie Zartman has advanced to the championship bracket of the 2004 FISU World University Beach Volleyball Championship with long-time partner Tracy Lindquist. The pair is the defending champion at the event, having won the 2002 title. The event is taking place in Songkhla Province, Thailand.
The team of Zartman and Lindquist is representing the United States at this event. The pair opened tournament play on June 16 with a 21-15, 19-21, 15-9 defeat of the German team in a rematch of the 2002 Gold Medal match. Despite foul weather that included thunderstorms and heavy rains, Zartman/Lindquist went on to sweep the France 2 team of Etienne and Giaoui with scores of 21-18 and 21-15.
Thursday's action saw the American pair lose a close match to the China 2 team of Gao and Li with a score of 17-21m 21-12m 12-15 to conclude pool play. With a 2-1 record in pool play, Zartman/Lindquist earned the top seed in their pool and the third overall seed in the championship elimination bracket. They will play the Finland/Japan winner in their first elimination match. Two wins in the bracket would put the pair in the championship, which will take place on Sunday.
