Wang Places Fifth at State Amateur

Seattle, WA - Three members of the Husky women's golf team continued play in major summer events Thursday. Sophomore Amy Wang finished fifth at 2004 WSGA Women's Amateur Championship held at Kitsap Golf and Country Club. She finished the 54-hole event at 11-over 230, including a final round of 76. Wang was nine strokes behind the tournament champion.

At the North and South Women's Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, Husky sophomore Amber Prange reached the Round of 16 in match play competition. Prange beat Perry Swenson of Charlotte on the 21st hole of play in her opening round match play contest. She then defeated Amber Marsh Elliott of Greensboro 3 and 1. Prange lost in the third round to Danah Ford of Indianapolis 6 and 4.

At the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship in Williamsburg, Va., Husky junior Sung Ea Lee lost to Lisa Meshke 1 up in the first-round of match play.
