June 25, 2004
UCLA golfer Hannah Jun won her third round match Friday afternoon in the 28th U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks Championships being held at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, VA.
Jun defeated Ko-Chen Yeh of Chinese, Tapei, 7 and 6 despite a two-and-a-half hour weather delay. Prior to the delay, Jun was 2-up after three holes. Following the delay, she extended her lead to six holes when Yeh bogeyed holes six through nine. After the players halved the 10th, Jun birdied the par-3 11th to go 7-up. When both players made par at the 12th, Jun had earned a trip to the quarterfinals.
Jun's opponent will be determined Saturday morning. She plays the winner of the match between Ya-Ni Tseng, also of Chinese, Taipei and Ashley Grier of Hagerstown, MD. The match was all square at the 18th hole when darkness fell.
