Bears Carry Hopes to pre-Trials Meet and Junior Nationals

Provo, UT - Trying to qualify for the Olympic Trials, Antonette Carter advanced to the 100 meter dash final with a time of 11.60 at BYU's Sprint and Power Pre-Trials Meet. Graduated senior Deanna Slaton advanced in the women's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.93.

Alum and throws coach Jennifer Joyce achieved the Olympic 'A' Qualifying Standard (67.50m) and set a new PR and Canadian Record with a throw of 223-10 (68.22m). Fellow alum Tim Bogdanof advanced in his event, the 110 meter hurdles at 13.98.

Golden Bears also traveled to USA Junior Nationals in College Station, TX. They included John Ludden who finished sixth in the hammer at 191-09 to earn All-American status. Andres Perezchica did not qualify for the 800 final, finishing seventh in his heat at 1:55.77. Darren Woods' qualifying was postoned due to weather, and will run in a timed final today and will be joined in competition by Craig Kent who will throw the shot today.
