Marshall Finishes 9th in Triple Jump at USA Junior Championships

June 28, 2004

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - University of Arizona freshman Daniel Marshall competed at the 2004 USA Junior Track and Field Championships in College Station, Texas on Saturday. The top two qualifiers in each event are eligible to compete for Team USA at the 2004 IAAF World Junior Track and Field Championships in Grosseto, Italy in July.

Marshall was a qualifier in the triple jump after an outstanding freshman season with the Wildcats. He competed in the first flight of jumpers and stood in third place after three preliminary jumps. He qualified for the final with his second attempt, a jump that measured 49 feet, 9 inches (15.16m, w: 2.3 m/s). That mark also proved to be his best of the competition as he finished ninth in the overall individual standings.

Training continues on for several Wildcat track and field athletes as they prepare to compete at the 2004 USA Olympic Trials in Sacramento, California from July 9-18. The trials will take place at Sacramento State University's Hornet Stadium.
