Senior Matt Altman Wins The 2004 Block 'S' Honors Award

Palo Alto, CA - Four year Varsity letter winner Matt Altman was chosen as the 2004 Block 'S' Honors Award; given annually to the top student athlete of the graduating class. Matt graduates with a 3.91 GPA in his major, Mathematics. He also pursued Biology as his minor and will attend Harvard Medical School in the Fall.
While competing daily at the highest level in practice, Matt also found the time to maintain a stellar academic record and write his thesis. Coach Craig Amerkhanian noted: 'Matt is the ultimate Stanford student-athlete. Excelling in the classroom and impacting his teammates with his daily effort, he embodies the team identity.'
Stanford Crew's Academic Award will be renamed the Matt Altman Award in honor of Matt's exacting standards and selfless dedication to rowing and to his teammates.
