SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - University of Arizona women's golfer Erica Blasberg finished 3-over-par 74 in the first day of competition at the 2004 United States Women's Open.
The junior-to-be from Corona, Calif., strung together two birdies and 11 pars for the first round, to place her tied for 72nd place. On the back nine Blasberg struggled, shooting 4 bogeys, but did snatched her two birdies of the day on the 13th and 17th holes. Play was suspended early Thursday evening due to darkness; Blasberg however was able to finish her first round.
Blasberg will tee off Friday afternoon in second round action, after the first round has been completed Friday morning. The tournament is being held at The Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, Mass., par 71 over 6,473 yards.
