Marcedes Lewis Named To Mackey List
July 2, 2004
The Nassau County Sports Commission (NCSC) has announced the preliminary contenders for the 2004 John Mackey Award for the Best Collegiate Tight End in Division I-A. The winner of the award will be announced in early December and will receive his trophy at the NCSC's Annual Awards Dinner in April of 2005.
UCLA junior Marcedes Lewis is one of 26 tight ends listed as preliminary contenders. A year ago, Lewis started eight games. He made 30 receptions for 377 yards and three touchdowns, ranking second to wide receiver Craig Bragg in all three categories. Lewis made six catches for 96 yards and one score against Colorado and made four receptions on three other occasions.
In 2002, Mike Seidman, now of the Carolina Panthers, was one of three finalists for this award.
