July 6, 2004
Corvallis, Ore. - Oregon State University senior football student-athlete Matt Brock has been selected to the Outland Trophy Award Watch List, the Football Writers Association of America has announced. The award is presented annually to the nation's top interior lineman on offense or defense.
Brock, who has started at center for 26 consecutive games, is already on the Rimington Trophy Award Watch list for the top offensive lineman. The Roseburg, Ore., native was an honorable mention All-Pacific-10 Conference selection last season.
Brock is one of five Pac-10 individuals on the 57-member list. He is joined by fellow conference athletes Shaun Cody (DT) and Mike Patterson (DT) from USC, Adam Snyder (OT) from Oregon, and Keoki Fraser (C) from Arizona.
The recipient of the Outland Trophy will be announced Dec. 9 on the ESPN College Football Awards Show from Orlando. The actual awards ceremony will be Dec. 13 in Omaha, Neb.
The Outland Trophy is the third-oldest award in college football and has been presented annually since 1946.
