Two Trojans Finish In Top Five At U.S. Women's Open

July 6, 2004

South Hadley, Mass. - Former Women of Troy golfers Jennifer Rosales and Candie Kung each placed in the top five as the USC program acquitted itself quite well at the 2004 U.S. Women's Open held at The Orchards Golf Club this past weekend.

Kim Saiki, another former USC golfer, finished tied for 20th.

Rosales was the leader after 54 holes at the Open, but couldn't hold off the charge of Meg Mallon. Rosales finished at 3 under par to place fourth, while Mallon finished at 10 under.

Kung shot 2-under to tie for fifth, while Saiki shot 4 over.

'This just goes to show how our program prepares its golfers for the next level,' said USC coach Andrea Gaston, who recruited and coached both Rosales and Kung. 'Playing for USC gives our players the competitive edge they need to succeed after college. Rosales and Kung are examples of the kind of success stories we've had in this program.'
