Former OSU Standout Joey Hansen Named To U.S. Olympic Team

Joey Hansen, former Oregon State University rowing standout and three-time United States National Team member, has been named to the 2004 U.S. Olympic men's eight, USRowing announced Wednesday.
Hansen will row the four seat in the eight, which is generally regarded as the highest-priority boat for the U.S. The squad will compete in the 2004 Olympic Games Aug. 14-22 in Athens, Greece.
While at OSU, the Bakersfield, Calif., native was named to the All-Pac-10 first team three times from 1999-2001. He earned a seat in the U.S. National Team beginning in the summer of 2001.
Hansen had no rowing experience prior to coming to OSU.
Matt Imes, an assistant coach at OSU from 1998-2001, was named as one of four assistant coaches on the U.S. Olympic Team staff.
Former OSU all-conference rower (2002) Josh Inman is competing for a seat in the Senior World's Team in the four with coxswain after rowing with the U.S. National Team this summer.
