Potter in 5th Place at Sahalee Players Championship

Seattle - Former Washington men's golfer Dan Potter is tied for fifth after the first round of play at the 2004 Sahalee Players Championship held at Sahalee Country Club. Dillon Dougherty of Northwestern took the first round lead with a 5-under 67. Potter shot 3-under 69. Potter just concluded his senior season at Washington.

Husky junior James Lepp is tied for ninth at 1-under 71. Lepp recently finished second at the Times Colonist Open on Vancouver Island, a Canadian Tour event. Sophomore Erik Olson, fresh off of winning the Seattle Amateur, is 16th at 1-over 73. UW sophomroe Alex Prugh is 21st at 3-over 75.

The 11th Sahalee Players Championship, the first leg of amateur golf's Western Swing that also includes the 103rd Pacific Northwest Amateur Championship. The tournament runs through Saturday.
