Rowe Advances To U.S. Olympic Trials Semi-Finals

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Cal junior Caleb Rowe advanced to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials finals that will take place this evening in the men's 100-meter breaststroke. Rowe finished seventh in the preliminaries this morning, with a time of 1:02.62, a vast improvement on his seed time of 1:03.84. The top eight finishers advance to the finals and the top two finishers in the finals make the U.S. Olympic team.

Cal alum Bayani Flores joined Rowe in the 100-meter breaststroke competition, finishing 22nd with a time of 1:04.74.

The U.S. Olympic Trials continue through July 14th in Long Beach. More U.S. Olympic Trials information can be found on www.usaswimming.org. NBC will air a tape-delayed broadcast of the events this Friday from 8-9 p.m. and on Sunday from 8-9 p.m.
