Vandenberg and Lewis Advance to Semifinals at U.S Swim Trials

Kim Vandenberg and Kristen Lewis both advanced to the semifinals of the 100m butterfly at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in Long Beach, CA. Former Bruin Bethany Goodwin also advanced to the semifinal rounds.
Vandenberg, the 2003 Pac-10 Freshman Swimmer of the Year, finished 12th with a time of 1:01.99, while teammate Lewis, a former walk-on and All-American finished 16th with a time of 1:01.29. Lewis has also been honored with an NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship.
Goodwin, a graduate of UCLA, finished ninth with a time of 1:00.44 to advance to the semifinals.
Another Bruin graduate, Keiko Price will also be competing at the Olympic Trials. She is slated to compete in the 50m and 100m freestyle races.
The semifinal race of the 100m butterfly will be held Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m in which the top eight will advance to the finals.
