Coughlin, Cope, and Stitts Advance to Olympic Trials Finals

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Former Cal swimmers Natalie Coughlin and Haley Cope advanced from the semi-finals to the finals of the women's 100-meter backstroke today at the U.S. Olympic Trials with a 1-2 finish. As in the preliminaries, Coughlin finished first in the event, this time in 1:00.91. Cope finished second in the semi-final with a time of 1:01.67.
Fellow alum Staciana Stitts made the 100-meter breaststroke finals with her third-place finish in the semi-finals this evening. Stitts touched the wall in 1:08.27.
