Four Former Golden Bears Named to U.S. Olympic Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - U.S. Rowing announced its 2004 Olympic Team roster on Wednesday afternoon, naming four former Golden Bears to the U.S. Olympic team. The squad includes Cal alumni Laurel Korholz, Megan Dirkmaat, Peter Cipollone and Luke Walton.

The roster includes 15 past Olympians, including Cipollone and Korholz, a three-time Olympian. All 45 team members have past World Championships experience and have combined to win 59 medals at the worlds.

The rowing events at the 2004 Olympic Games will take place Aug. 14-22 in Athens, Greece. Fourteen events will be contested at this year's Olympic Games with the U.S. racing in 12. USRowing is the non-profit membership organization recognized by the U.S. Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.
