The Oregon State University men's basketball team opens its 2004-05 regular season campaign at the Black Coaches Association Invitational Nov. 17-19, in Raleigh, N.C., head coach Jay John announced Friday.

Joining OSU in the eight-team field are North Carolina State, Coppin State, New Orleans, Pepperdine, Siena, Elon and a team to be determined.

First-round matchups and seedings are still to be decided.

Highlighting the field along with the Beavers is N.C. State, which competed in the NCAA Tournament last year as a 'three' seed, losing to Vanderbilt 75-73 in the second round.

In the series with N.C. State, OSU is 1-4. The most recent meeting was a 66-58 loss in 1994; OSU topped the Wolfpack 71-61 in 1977.

Of the remaining confirmed teams, OSU has a series history with Coppin State (OSU 1-0), New Orleans (OSU 4-1) and Pepperdine (OSU 4-0).

OSU returns 11 lettermen and all five starters from last year's squad.
