July 10, 2004
Seattle - Former Washington women's golfer Dodie Mazzuca picked up a record fourth victory on the West Coast Ladies Golf Tour last week and will attempt to win her third straight event this week. Mazzuca, who currently leads the WCLGT Money Earnings list, took top honors Thursday at The National in Arizona National Golf Course in Tucson. She shot 207 over 54 holes to win by two strokes.
The victory came after she took first place at the Hemet Classic on May 13. Earlier this year Mazzuca tied for first at the International on March 18. Last year Mazzuca picked up her first tour win by winning the 2003 California Open in July.
Mazzuca, who now calls Phoenix home, became the first four-time champion on the tour which features a number of former top Pac-10 players.
Mazzuca's next tournament will be the Arizona Summer Classic at Estrella Mountain Ranch Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. The tournament takes place July 12-15.
Mazzuca qualified as an LPGA Tour exempt member for the year 2001 by finishing third on the 2000 SBC FUTURES Tour Money List. Later this year she will attempt to requalify to the LPGA Tour. She was just the second Husky to earn a LPGA Tour card.
