Men's Hoops To Do Battle With Georgia In Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Classic For Kids

In a game indicative of the challenging schedule awaiting the Oregon State University men's basketball team in 2004-05, third-year head coach Jay John announced Monday that the Beavers will face the University of Georgia as part of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Classic for Kids.
The teams will square off Saturday, Dec. 11, at Phillips Arena in Atlanta, Ga., as part of a double-header that includes a matchup between Georgia Tech and Air Force.
Game time for the first-ever meeting between OSU and Georgia has yet to be determined.Proceeds from the Classic will benefit Children's HealthCare and Camp Twin Lakes youth charities.
In return for the game in Atlanta, Georgia is tentatively scheduled to make a trip to the Pacific Northwest the following season.
Head coach Dennis Felton's Bulldogs, who lost to Iowa State in the first round of the 2004 National Invitational Tournament, posted a 16-14 record in 2003-04, including a 13-3 mark at home. The matchup in Phillips Arena is approximately 70 miles from the University of Georgia campus in Athens.
OSU opens its regular season Nov. 17-19 at the Black Coaches Association Invitational in Raleigh, N.C.
OSU returns a veteran squad of 11letterwinners and all five starters from last year's team.
