Sun Devil Peterson Advances in 200m Dash at US Olympic Trials

TEMPE, Ariz. - A pair of current members of the Arizona State track and field program took to the track Friday evening with one advancing to later competition at the 2004 US Track and Field Olympic Team Trials being conducted at the Alex G. Spanos Athletic Complex in Sacramento, Calif.

In the 200m dash, sophomore-to-be Domenik Peterson clocked a 20.81 in the qualifying round to place fourth in his heat to earn an automatic berth into the quarterfinals. Fellow teammate Seth Amoo also competed in the same event, placing 5th in his heat, but clocking a 21.11 and failing to advance. Overall, Peterson turned in the 22nd fastest time on the day while Amoo ranked 28th.

Peterson, the final Sun Devil competing in the national event, will run in the quarterfinals, slated for noon Saturday. If he is among the Top 16, he will run again at 2:17 p.m. in the semifinals to battle for a berth into the finals, which are slated for 5:38 p.m. Sunday, the final event of the meet.
