Construction Update -- Reser Stadium Going Vertical

July 21, 2004

Corvallis, Ore. - Raising Reser is going vertical. The foundation for the first of two 200 feet tower cranes is in place and starting Mon., July 26 the rest of the crane will be assembled. The crane should be operational by Aug. 1 and will be used to build the first and second towers of the stadium. The towers will be located next to the tower crane. The footings for the tower are visible in the Reser webcam 2 picture. It will take over 800 yards of concrete for the tower 1 and tower crane foundations. The crane foundation will be covered over rather than removed at the completion of the project as the two foundations are actually connected and prohibit removing it.

The Jumbotron will be relocated Thurs., July 22 between 7-9 a.m. Any spectators who would like to watch should stand on the ramps on the south side of Gill Coliseum during the moving process. The Jumbotron will be moving to its new location next to the scoreboard.

Footings are being placed in the area where temporary bleachers are being constructed that will allow for faster progress and erection of the stadium after the conclusion of the 2004 season. Utility work will continue for the next several weeks along 26th street and Ralph Miller Drive. The areas will then be patched and prepared for the season. Assembly of the temporary bleachers is expected to begin Aug. 1 and the process is expected to take two weeks.
