Vandenberg Has Number One Qualifying Time in 200m Butterfly at U.S. Nationals

Junior-to-be Kim Vandenberg advanced to the finals in the 200m butterfly after swimming the fastest time (2:13.23) in the preliminary rounds at the U.S. Swimming Nationals in Palo Alto. She will compete in the finals in the evening section of events later today. Vandenberg also advanced to the finals in the 100m freestyle after finishing 17th with a time of 57.61 in the preliminary rounds.
Along with Vandenberg, junior-to-be Krista Daley also advanced to the finals in the 200m butterfly after finishing 15th with a time of 2:17.85. Daley and Vandenberg are the only Bruins to advance to the finals in their races.
On Tuesday, sophomore-to-be Jane Imagane finished 18th in the 800m freestyle with a time of 8:55.70. Incoming freshman Erin Ketchum, also competing in the 800m freestyle, finished 35th with a time of 9:15.05.
In Wednesday's action, sophomore-to-be Jeana Fuccillo and junior-to-be Shellene Catalano competed in the 200m breaststroke. Catalano finished 37th with a time of 2:42.18, while Fuccillo finished 44th with a time of 2:48.83. In the 200m backstroke, senior-to-be Kim Scarborough finished 26the (2:22.75) and sophomore-to-be Isabel Miesner finished 34th (2:24.42). Senior-to-be Melissa Miller competed in the 200m butterfly, finishing 39th with a time of 2:24.45.
All final races will be held in the evening session after 5:00 p.m.
