Lindsay Anderson Competing at U.S. Women's Amateur

ERIE, Pa. - Arizona State's Lindsay Anderson of El Paso, Texas, is tied for 136th after the first round of the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, being held August 9-15 at the par 72, 6,356-yard Kahkwa Club.Anderson, who will be a sophomore on the 2004-05 Sun Devil squad, shot a 12-over 84 on Monday. She will tee off at 8:40 a.m. Eastern Time (5:40 a.m. in Arizona) on Tuesday and play with Brandi Underwood and Gabby Wedding of Wilmington, N.C.Anderson qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur with a tie for fifth place at the Sectional Qualifier at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, Colo., in July.Tania Elosegui of Spain leads the U.S. Women's Amateur after carding a four-under 68 in the first round of play.Players compete in stroke play for the first and second rounds of the U.S. Women's Amateur, while the first two rounds will determine the 64 players who advance on to match play for the final five days of the tournament.Live scoring and more information about the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur can be found at
