John David Booty Throws 2 TD Passes To Highlight USC's First Intrasquad Scrimmage

Backup quarterback John David Booty threw a pair of touchdown passes and placekicker Ryan Killeen nailed a pair of 43-yard field goals on Tuesday (Aug. 10) to highlight USC's first intrasquad scrimmage that concluded the opening week of fall football practice.Booty, who was 7-of-9 for 109 yards overall, completed a 7-yard scoring toss to tailback Reggie Bush and then hit wide receiver Steve Smith for a 16-yard score.Starting quarterback Matt Leinart was 7-of-13 for 81 yards. Reserve Brandon Hance threw a 19-yard TD to wide receiver Derrick Jones and fullback Lee Webb ran for a 1-yard touchdown for the 75-play scrimmage's other scores.Linebacker Lofa Tatupu and cornerback Ronald Nunn led the defense with 5 tackles each. Defensive tackle Travis Tofi had 2 sacks.Defending national champion USC opens its 2004 season on Aug. 28 against Virginia Tech in the Black Coaches Association Football Classic in Landover, Md.
