Nat Gonzalez Named Associate Head Coach

LOS ANGELES -- Nat Gonzalez, who was hired in February as an assistant coach for the USC women's soccer program, was named associate head coach, Women of Troy head coach Jim Millinder announced today.Gonzalez spent three seasons as the head coach for the men's soccer team at UC Riverside before coming to USC.Prior to his tenure at UC Riverside, Gonzalez served as goalkeeping coach and first assistant for the men's team at Washington (1996-2000). The Huskies won the 1998 and 1999 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships and posted a 61-15-5 record during his five years with the Huskies. He was an assistant men's coach at Cal Poly Pomona from 1995-96 and a graduate assistant coach for the UCLA women's team from 1994-95.'Nat has done a tremendous job for us in the first six months he has been here,' said Millinder. 'The players love him and he is a great addition to our program.'Gonzalez graduated from Chaffey High School in Ontario in 1988. He was a four-year letterwinner and goalkeeper at UCLA from 1988-91 and a member of the 1990 Bruins' national championship team. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from UCLA in 1995 and possesses a United States Soccer Federation 'B' license.He also played professionally for six seasons in the Major Indoor Soccer League, finishing his career with the Seattle SeaDogs in 1997.USC opens its 2004 season on Friday (Aug. 27) against Rhode Island at the Nike Seminole Classic in Tallahassee, Fla.
