Lepp Falls in Match Play At Canadian Amateur

Pointe-Claire, Quebec - Washington junior golfer James Lepp lost during the first round of match play at the 2004 Canadian Amateur Open. Ryan Yip downed the Abbotsford, British Columbia native 5-and-4. Lepp had qualified for match play after being one of 64 players to advance from two rounds of stroke play. He tied for 29th in stroke play. This year's Canadian Amateur Championship is being contested at the Beaconsfield Golf Club.A transfer from Illinois, Lepp redshirted the 2003-04 season due to NCAA rules. He will make his Washington debut this fall when the Huskies open their season at their own Opus/NW Invitational September 27 and 28 at Gold Mountain in Bremerton. Lepp was the Big Ten Conference player of the year as a sophomore at Illinois.
