Huskies Battle To Scoreless Draw In Exhibition At SPU

SEATTLE - Washington men's soccer battled to a scoreless draw in a preseason exhibition match with Seattle Pacific Monday night at SPU's Interbay Stadium.Despite owning a 10-3 shot advantage, the Huskies were held scoreless. A pair of scoring chances were thwarted by the play of SPU goalkeeper James Ward, who saved a 14-yard drive from UW sophomore defender Will Flanagan in the 47th minute. Sophomore forward Kevin Forrest also had an 8-yard shot blocked by Ward with 30 minutes remaining.Seattle Pacific¹s best scoring attempt occurred in the 77th minute. From the right wing, James Coggan slipped the ball inside the box to Brent but before Egbert could get off his shot Washington keeper Chris Eylander dived to smother the ball at his feet.The Huskies open regular season play with a six-game road trip, beginning at Gonzaga, Wed., Sept. 1, at 4 p.m. SPU's season gets underway Saturday, hosting Cal State Dominguez Hills.Scoring: none.
