Parker Named Second-Team Summer All-America

SEATTLE - Washington sophomore-to-be Kyle Parker has been named a second-team Summer All-American by Baseball America, the magazine announced today.Parker, from Yakima's West Valley High School, led the Aloha (Ore.) Knights to the National Baseball Congress World Series earlier this month, throwing a five-hit, complete-game shutout in the championship game.During the summer, the right-hander posted a 7-1 record and a 2.07 earned run average. In 70 innings, he allowed only 46 hits and 24 walks while striking out 75.Last summer as a freshman at the UW, Parker posted a 4-3 record and a 3.84 earned run average and capped his season with a complete-game win over host Mississippi in an NCAA Regional elimination game.
