Beavers Pick Up 3-1 Win Over Murray State

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Karah Rhoades had 17 kills to lead the Oregon State volleyball team to a 3-1 win over Murray State at the IU Credit Union Invitational on Saturday morning. Game scores were 30-22, 30-27, 18-30, and 30-25. 'We mixed things up a little, and it seemed to work,' coach Nancy Somera said. 'It was another good offensive match, and we did a little better job with our floor defense.' Four Beavers hit .400 or better, including Rhoades, who turned in a career-best .429 mark and just missed tying her career-high of 18 kills. Amanda Eggert had 13 kills on .407 hitting, and setter Desma Stovall hit .500 with six kills to go along with her 49 assists. Katelyn Healy played two games off the bench and finished with six kills and no errors for a .462 hitting percentage. Oregon State (1-1) picked up 54 digs, with three players getting 10 or more. Allison Lawrence, who had 12 kills, led the Beavers with 12 digs. Nina Baltimore added 11 digs, and Rhoades had 10. Still, the Beavers were outdug by the Racers (0-2), who had 63 digs. The Beavers wrap up the tournament with a match against host Indiana at 5:30 p.m. PDT on Saturday.
