Trojan Win Streak Reaches 50

The No. 1 USC women's volleyball team (3-0) extended its win streak to 50 matches with its 30-25, 30-14, 23-30, 30-19 win over Georgia in a non-conference match at the Lyon Center on Saturday (Sept. 4).Five Trojans reached double figures in kills, including senior Keao Burdine with 16 and senior Emily Adams with 13. Juniors Staci Venski and Bibiana Candelas had 12 kills apiece while senior Alicia Robinson had 11. Sophomore Debora Seilhamer had a match-high 23 digs.Georgia (1-2) was led by junior Julie Petruschke's 15 kills and junior Alexandra Oquendo's 14 kills and six blocks.USC out-hit Georgia .348 to .200 but the teams were even in blocks (9.0) and aces (five). The Trojans used a 12-2 run take control of Game 2, but couldn't get into a groove in Game 3 as the Bulldogs' .417 hitting percentage proved too much.Georgia led early in Game 4 as well at 10-7 and was down only 16-15 midway through the game, but USC rattled off a 14-4 streak to close out the match.USC plays at No. 9 Pepperdine on Sunday (Sept. 5) at 3 p.m. The match will also be televised on CSTV.
