Volleyball Swept By Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Oregon State volleyball team concluded the IU Credit Union Invitational with a 3-0 loss to host Indiana on Saturday night. The Hoosiers beat the Beavers 30-24, 30-26 and 36-34.'We need to get better. We had a lot of players who were not executing their system responsibilities,' coach Nancy Somera said. 'We need to get back in the gym and figure some things out. It wasn't our desire to go 1-2 this weekend.' Amanda Eggert hit .350 with 11 kills, and Karah Rhoades added 10 kills on .276 hitting, but as a team, the Beavers had just 49 kills on .203 hitting. Indiana hit .270 with 61 kills, including a match-high 17 from all-tournament selection Katie Pollom. Allison Lawrence, who had 11 kills and 10 digs against the Hoosiers, was the only Beaver to earn all-tournament recognition. Saint Louis' Aida Antanavicuite was named the Most Valuable Player. Also making the all-tournament team were SLU's Lauren Boissevain, Indiana's Lauren Ditteon and Murray State's Nikki Wong. Both OSU and Indiana had 47 digs. Three OSU players had 10, with Rhoades and Nina Baltimore joining Lawrence in double figures. Taylor Studzinski saw her first action of the season and collected a career-high five digs in two games. OSU outblocked the Hoosiers, 7.5-6. Rhoades led the way at the net with a hand in four of OSU's blocks.
