Tantillo Scores Golden Goal In USC's 3-2 OT Win Against Rutgers

LOS ANGELES -- Sophomore Rosa Anna Tantillo (San Diego/La Jolla HS) scored two goals Sunday, including the game-winning goal in the second overtime period, as the USC Trojans defeated the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, 3-2, in nonconference action at McAlister Field. Tantillo scored at 105:31 off assists from Tracy Lansing and Lauren Brown.Rutgers also had a two-goal performance from three-time U.S. National Team midfielder Carli Lloyd.Lloyd scored early for the Scarlet Knights at 3:33 when she fired a perfect shot from 35 yards out into the lower right corner. USC answered quickly at 6:12 when junior Tina Sutorius scored on a header off a corner kick from Jocelyn Leche.At 38:42, Lloyd scored again when she broke through the Trojans' backfield and scored easily. Once again, USC answered right away when Tantillo fired a shot from 20 yards out at 41:07 on the right side.Rutgers outshot USC by a 20-12 margin. Lloyd scored the possible game-winning goal in the first overtime, but an offsides call negated the effort.USC travels to the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic next weekend in Knoxville, Tenn. The Women of Troy will play Mississippi State on Friday (Sept. 10) and host Tennessee on Sunday (Sept. 12).
