Lauren Westendorf Named Pac-10 Player of the Week for Women's Volleyball

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Oregon outside hitter Lauren Westendorf has been named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Aug. 30-Sept. 6, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Westendorf, a senior from Bakersfield, Calif., set career-highs in kills (20 and 21) on back-to-back nights against Colorado and Cal State Northridge, earning MVP honors at the Oregon Classic Tournament. Against Colorado, she collected 20 kills on 32 attempts with only three errors (.531 pct.), four service aces and eight digs. Against Northridge, Westendorf posted a career-high 21 kills and eight digs to lead the Ducks to the tournament title. For the week, Westendorf had 70 kills (5.00 kpg) with 15 errors, on 134 attempts, hitting at a .410 clip. She also collected seven aces (0.50 sapg) and 39 digs (2.79 dpg), propelling the Ducks to a 4-0 start.

This is the first weekly honor for Westendorf, and Oregon's first since Sept. 18, 1995, when Amy Barnes received Player of the Week honors.
