No. 3 UCLA Volleyball Sweeps Southwest Missouri State

HONOLULU - The No. 3 UCLA Bruins (6-0) defeated the Southwest Missouri State Bears (5-2) 30-11, 30-24 and 30-24 in the second day of the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Volleyball Challenge at the Stan Sheriff Center Friday. With their 6-0 start, UCLA is now off to its best start since the 1993 season.

Nana Meriwether had a big match at the net for the Bruins, putting awaya challenge-record 14 blocks and six kills. Brittany Ringel added 10 killswhile hitting .409. Chrissie Zartman had another big match in the backrow, finishing with 23 digs.

The threesome of Sabrina Apker, Katie Kreimer and Sarah Lansing led theway for SMS with seven kills. Jane Parker had 15 kills to lead theBears in the back row.

UCLA wraps up the tournament facing 11th-ranked Hawai'i at 10 p.m. PDT on Saturday night.
