Cardinal Men Compete At Gold Rush California Collegiate Golf Showcase

Stanford, Calif. - The Stanford men's golf team open the 2004-05 season at the inaugural Gold Rush California Collegiate Golf Showcase presented by TaylorMade-adidas Golf, Sept. 17-18 at the PGA of Southern California Golf Club in Beaumont, Calif. The tournament, hosted by UCLA, features 29 men's teams plus the defending NCAA champion UCLA women's team in a 54-hole, stroke play format.
The PGA of Southern California Golf Club's Legends Course plays to a par of 72 and stretches 7,303 yards and the Champions Course measures 7,223 yards and has a par of 72. Both and are rated as two of the toughest in the region.
Competing in the Gold Rush California Collegiate Golf Showcase presented by TaylorMade-adidas are the UCLA men's and women's teams, Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Cal State Bakersfield, Cal State Northridge, Chico State, Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Fresno State, Long Beach State, San Diego State, San Jose State, Sonoma State, Loyola Marymount, The Masters College, University of the Pacific, Pepperdine, Point Loma-Nazarene, Redlands, Santa Clara, Stanford, University of San Francisco, UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Riverside and UC San Diego.
Stanford first-year head coach Conrad Ray has announced the following lineup for the event: sophomore Zack Miller (San Rafael, CA), freshman Teddy Collins (Louisville, KY), freshman Rob Grube (Hinsdale, IL), junior Kyle Gentry (Carmel, CA) and junior Scott MacDonald (Playa del Rey, CA).
The Cardinal are back in action Oct. 4-5 at the Windon Memorial Classic in Lake Forest, IL.
