USC And BYU Battle To 1-1 Tie

LOS ANGELES -- Sophomore Rosa Anna Tantillo's goal in the 79th minute Thursday helped the USC Trojans as they played to a 1-1 tie against the BYU Cougars in nonconference action at McAlister Field.

Both teams are now 3-3-1 on the season.

USC dominated with a 16-5 margin on shots, but it was the Cougars that scored first. Annie Zwahlen beat the Women of Troy in the 51st minute on an offside trap and beat USC goalie Veronica Simonton on the breakaway. Tantillo tied the match with her sixth goal of the season on a shot that hit the crossbar into the goal.

The Women of Troy travels to San Diego on Sunday (Sept. 19) for a nonconference game that starts at noon.
