Volleyball Sweeps Radford at Denver Tournament

DENVER, Colo. -- The Washington State volleyball took a 30-13, 30-15, 30-19 win over Radford University in the first match of the University of Denver Invitational Friday afternoon at Hamilton Gym on the DU campus.

The Cougars, 3-6 under the direction of first-year Head Coach Brian Heffernan, have won two matches in a row. Radford's record drops to 2-6.

WSU's Kelly Rosin led the team with 10 kills (.421) and had two blocks, as all 12 players on the trip saw action in this match. Jen Barcus had six kills and three blocks. Stacey Holbrook had 17 digs while Jen Todd had four kills and three aces.

Tiffany Guthrie led Radford with 14 kills (.250) and Elizabeth Aldredge had 13 digs.

WSU reached a season-best hitting percentage of .364 and held Radford to .072.

The Cougars led from the first serve in the first game with freshman Kristin Kelley landing five kills. WSU hit .516 and held the Highlanders to .062. Five of Radford's 13 points came on WSU errors in this 30-13 Cougar win.

Todd served three aces in the second game as WSU won 30-15. In the third game, the Cougs reeled off 10 consecutive points before capturing the 30-19 win.

WSU takes on Syracuse Saturday morning and host University of Denver Saturday night.
