Women's Golf Tied For 13th After Round One Of Fall Preview

Sunriver, Ore. - The Stanford women's golf team shot a 16-over 300 on the first day of competition at the 2004 NCAA Fall Preview in Sunriver, Oregon, and are tied for 13th overall. Duke holds a two stroke lead with a one-under 283 on the day. Rounding out the top five are Washington (285), Georgia (286), New Mexico (287) and Oklahoma State (289).

The start of play was delayed Monday morning due to frost, and a frost delay is expected for Tuesday's start as well.

Only nine shots separate places seven through 16.

Sophomore Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana carded a two-over par 73 and is tied for 22nd on the individual leaderboard. Teammate Wendra Liang shot a four-over par 75 and is tied for 46th while Stephanie Lue and Lauren Todd are tied for 59th with a five-over par 76. Cardinal Kelly Husted turned in a 78 and is tied for 78th.

Duke's Brittany Lang fired a seven-under par 64 to sit atop the leaderboard for the Blue Devils.Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin and Ohio State's Kristen White are tied for second with a four-under 67. Four players are tied for fourth at three-under 68.

Second round action continues tomorrow with teams teeing off from the first tee beginning at 8 a.m. Eighteen holes will be contested on Tuesday with the final 18 played out on Wednesday.
