No. 4 California Defeats No. 3 Santa Clara, 1-0

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - No. 4 California defeated No. 3 Santa Clara, 1-0, on Sunday night, ending a 15-match home win streak for the Broncos. The Bears remain undefeated on the season, moving up to 7-0-1, while Santa Clara drops its first of the year, falling to 7-1-0.

California's Calen Carr found the back of the net in the 50th minute off of a pass from senior Yohei Fukuda. The goal is Carr's first on the season after returning from a redshirt last year.

Santa Clara out-shot the Bear's 13-6, with goal-scorer Carr leading the Bears with two shots. Senior Eric Kronberg secured his fourth complete shutout of the season by making five saves on the night. Santa Clara's Kent Karkness came away with two saves.

The Bears open up Pac-10 play this Friday against Stanford in Palo Alto at 7 p.m.
