Husky Women's Golfers Jump to No. 2 in Rankingss

Seattle - Thanks to a second-place finish at last week's Fall Preview, the Washington women's golf team jumped to second in this week's Golfweek Collegiate Rankings. It is the highest ranking in the program's history, surpassing the sixth-place position the Huskies held at one point last year. Washington entered the season ranked seventh in Golfweek's preseason poll.
'It is a great start to the season and a nice recognition for our team,' said Washington coach Mary Lou Mulflur. 'We're pretty excited about it. We're just trying to keep up with our counterparts on the soccer and volleyball teams.'
This week the Husky women's volleyball team, off to a 10-0 start, moved up to second in the Volleyball Coaches Association poll. The Husky women's soccer team, currently 8-0, is ranked fourth.
Washington placed second at the Fall Preview, held at the Meadows Course at Sunriver in Bend, Ore., with a score of 864. The tournament featured the top 12 ranked teams in the nation.In the individual ranks Husky freshman Kim Shin is eighth after her eighth-place finish at the Fall Preview. UW junior All-American Paige Mackenzie is 31st in the current poll while sophomore Ashley Bickerton is ranked 49th
The Huskies hold their annual Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at Sahalee Country Club Oct. 4-6. The event is free to the public. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com
