Sept. 30, 2004

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team begins play on Friday at the Mason Rudolph Championship, hosted by Vanderbilt University at The Legends Club in Franklin, TN.

The Ironhorse Course at The Legends Club plays to a par of 72 over 6,069 yards.

The Bruins, who tied for eighth at the Fall Preview last week, are looking for their first victory of the season after winning the NCAA title in May.

Head Coach Carrie Forsyth, who earned national coach of the year honors last season, will field a team of one senior, one junior, a sophomore and two freshmen. Among the teams competing are second-ranked Duke, which won the Fall Preview, third-ranked Georgia, No. 10 Texas, No. 11 Wake Forest and No. 14 Vanderbilt.

UCLA's lineup features three All-Americans in 2004 first-team selections Charlotte Mayorkas and Susie Mathews. Sophomore Hannah Jun earned second-team All-America honors last spring. In addition, the UCLA lineup boasts 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur medalist Amie Cochran, who tied for 13th at the Fall Preview.
